red queen bio

AI is accelerating and reshaping biology, drug development, and medicine, and the pace is picking up with more data and wider adoption. This increasing capacity for cures can also be used to do harm. As AI lowers the barriers to engineering dangerous pathogens, US biodefense faces a threat landscape that evolves faster than its legacy systems can adapt.

The Red Queen hypothesis describes a species’ co-evolution with ever-evolving opponents. Our mission is to scale biological defenses faster than frontier AI capabilities grow.

We are building an AI-powered biodefense layer that designs a countermeasure - a new drug - almost instantly, manufactures it at unprecedented speed, anywhere it's needed, and delivers it to the people most exposed. This makes it possible to stop emerging threats before they become pandemics.

We generate proprietary datasets and build models to asymmetrically accelerate defensive capabilities. We never conduct dangerous gain-of-function research, and we never make or isolate dangerous pathogens.

We’re working to ensure that scientists, as always, win out over those who would misuse new technology, so that AI can advance biology and deliver on its promise of new treatments and cures.
